Hyena Artist of the Month 2 - Cara Mitten

Each month The Hyena Clan will feature a top-class hyena artist. Although I'd missed a couple, hopefully we'll get back on track. Know someone you think should be nominated? Want to nominate yourself? Send us a note!

CARA MITTEN

Cara Mitten is a professional artist for well known brands such as Magic The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons. However, she's also a hyena fan like the rest of us! She is one of my personal favourite artists. Her work often features hyenas, in a variety of styles from the realistic to the absurd - for instance, her recent Pudgeyena series (who wouldn't love 'em?). Her work features both natural hyenas and anthro characters, for example her character Ice. Beyond the scope of hyenas, her work is mainly of the fantasy genre featuring her unique style of monstrous creatures.

Winter Contest Winner Announced!

First off, an apology for my absence in dealing with the group. Health problems have prevented me from having the time to deal with it at the moment.

Now, the good bit! Our winter contest had two entries:

WINTER CONTEST

==THE HYENA CLAN WINTER CONTEST ANNOUNCED!==

Yep yep yep, I've been saying it for a while but finally we have our first contest.

PRIZES - You have your choice of two prizes as the winner. First, is a commission by me, ~Korrok. Second, is an antique hyena print from a naturalist book of the 19th century. It will be posted to you, you will win it, you will receive it. Real life prize. Yays. The only restriction is that there must be at least 5 entries for the print to be an available prize.

THE TASK - Predictably, this contest will be winter themed. You have to draw a winter themed hyena image - BUT it must include two species of hyena. It can be traditional or digital, it can be anthropomorphic or of real life hyenas - you choose.

CLOSING DATE - The closing date for this contest is the 25th December 2004. The winner will be chosen by an independant panel of judges experienced in animal/anthro art. The winner will be announced near the beginning of the new year!

She has produced both traditional and digital images of fantastic quality, in realistic, anime and The Lion King -esque styles.
